Tina Simmons – Senior Vice President of Human Resources – Comcast’s Central Division

Tina_0047Tina Simmons, Division Senior Vice President of Human Resources, is responsible for leading all facets of human resources and organizational effectiveness for the Division and for all people-related functions including: compensation and benefits, diversity, employee relations, labor relations, employee communications, HR policy, performance management, talent acquisition, and talent management.

Tina served as Senior Vice President Human Resources for Comcast Cable Communications, Inc.  In this role, Tina served as the senior Human Resources executive for Customer Service Operations responsible for strategy development of employee recruitment, engagement, retention, recognition, and development initiatives for over 50,000 Customer Account Executives, Technicians, and leaders in Customer Operations.  Tina focused on optimizing the Customer Operations’ employee experience in order to deliver a superior customer experience.  Additionally, Tina served as the senior HR Business Partner for Comcast Headquarters Human Resources, Finance, and Legal Teams.

Tina previously held the role of Senior Vice President Customer Service Operations for Comcast.  She was responsible for customer experience strategy and tactical implementation, eCare operations, agent desktop tools deployment and enhancements.   Tina developed outsource partner strategy, had responsibility for managing outsource call center partnerships, and workforce capacity management.  Additionally, Tina had responsibility for consumer care inquiries, Social Media strategy, and customer outreach for the Office of the President.

Tina began her career with Bell Atlantic (Verizon) as Manager of Call Centers for Small Businesses in Pennsylvania and Delaware.  She then transitioned to PECO Energy as Call Center Manager for call centers serving 1.5 million customers.   Tina was able to use her operations experience to identify and share customer care best practices in her role as Practice Manager for GartnerGroup’s Contact Center Assessment service.  She also built the Customer Care practice at Software Consulting Group.

A School of Business graduate of Villanova University, Simmons received a Master of Science in Organizational Dynamics from the University of Pennsylvania.

Tina graduated from Comcast’s premiere leadership development program – Executive Leadership Forum.  Tina completed the Harvard Business School/CTAM (Cable & Telecommunications Association for Marketing) and the Cornell University ILR School HR Strategy Executive Education programs.

Tina is a national trustee on the South East Region Board of the Boys and Girls Clubs of America.  Tina is Immediate Past President of the Philadelphia Chapter of the National Association of African Americans in Human Resources (NAAAHR).

She serves on the Villanova School of Business Dean’s Advisory Council.  Tina is a mentor for Women in Cable and Telecommunications (WICT).  She also serves as a Chapter Advisor for the National Association of Multi-ethnicity in Communications (NAMIC).  Tina held Comcast’s board seat with the Urban League of Philadelphia and was Vice Chairman of the Board.  Tina is a member of the Pi Alpha Omega Chapter of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc.

Tina received Villanova University’s Eby Award for Outstanding Post Graduate Achievement.  Simmons has frequently been recognized as one of the Most Influential Minorities in Cable in Cablefax magazine and Most Powerful Women in Cable.

Additionally, Tina received the “Movers and Shakers” award from the American Women’s Heritage Society, Inc. and was recognized by the Philadelphia City Council for this honor.  Tina is the 2005 winner of NAMIC’s Paragon Award.

Tina received WICT’s Liberty Award in 2006.  In 2007, Simmons became a Class XIV Fellow of the WICT Betsy Magness Leadership Institute.  Tina was named as a “Woman to Watch” by Multichannel News and a “Woman of Distinction” by the Philadelphia Business Journal.  Additionally, Tina was awarded “Women Worth Watching in 2010” honors by the Profiles in Diversity Journal.

Tina was recognized with the National Diversity Council’s 2011 “Most Powerful & Influential Women in Pennsylvania” and 2012 “Most Powerful & Influential Women for Tri-State” awards.  Finally, Tina was recognized by the National Diversity Council with their “Most Powerful & Influential Women of Georgia” award in 2014.  Tina resides in Atlanta, Georgia with her husband.
